Can You Spare the Alliance in Blue Lions
As the best Hogwarts house will be debated until the end of time, there's a strong contingency for the best monastery class in Fire Emblem: Three Houses. Each house is filled with lovable and charismatic students and a strong leader, so picking between them is quite a tall order.
The Golden Deer house and the Blue Lions house share many similarities and differences and are both held in high regard by our favorite mystical professor. When pitting these two houses against each other like an anime version of The Oscars, what do they bring to the table to place themselves at the top?
10 Golden Deer: Claude Von Riegan

If you aren't aware of Claude throughhands-on experience with the game itself, you've likely seen some of the hundreds of amazing works of fan art and memes or posts and tweets from his illustrious voice actor, Joe Zieja. Claude Von Riegan is the house leader for the Golden Deer and is also the next heir to House Reigan in the Leicester Alliance.
Unsurprisingly, he plays a pivotal role in the game's story similar to the other two house leaders. Claude is charismatic, cares for his comrades regardless of status or affiliation, and is just an overall fun guy to be around. He's also, arguably, the sexiest man in Fire Emblem: Three Houses.
9 Blue Lions: Dimitri Alexandre Blaiddyd

As the winner of many popularity polls, and leader to the most popular house in the game, Dimitri lives up to his fame as an amazingly written character. He's a kind soul who puts his comrades above all else and strives to bring peace to Fódlan as the prince of Faerghus.
As prince-charmingly as he seems within part 1 of Three Houses, the second half of the game thrusts him into an entirely different character who you'll grow to care for immensely as you slowly pick apart his dark and unfortunate past. This is one tall, cracked glass of water you won't regret getting to know.
8 Golden Deer: The Ladies

Golden Deer and Black Eagles both have an equal ratio of female to male students, but Blue Lions is the exception with only 3 female students and 5 male ones. It isn't the biggest deal in the world, but the limited selection of male Byleth's romance options is definitely noticeable.
The Blue Lions students are all great characters, but the unequal distribution of students is a strange difference from the other two. In the Ashen Wolves DLC, Yuri was also a part of the Blue Lion house, who is also male, even if he is a bisexual option.
7 Blue Lions: They Must Survive

Three Houses has some depressing choices to be made during the story, and some of them include ending the lives of your fellow students. This is usually an inevitability in some way, but the Blue Lion house's Azure Moon route has the most survivable characters.
Even though Dimitri can sit by himself on the battlefield surrounded by ten enemies and take them out easier than taking out the trash, there's at least some semblance of mercy left, and the Blue Lion house is the prime choice for anyone looking to save as many students from their dooms as possible.
6 Golden Deer: Lysithea The Witch

This iteration of Fire Emblem is the most customizable yet, letting you essentially create your own builds for every unit. They all have their perks and flaws to keep in mind, however, so many of them are best suited to their canon classes.
The best example of this would be none other than Lysithea Von Cordelia, who is without a doubt the best mage in the entire game. Her extremely high magic stats are able to carry the entire team through battles in some instances, and she's so powerful, in fact, that there are memes dedicated to how well she can obliterate the mighty Death Knight.
5 Blue Lions: The Cavalry Is Here

Each house has their own proficiencies on the battlefield, and the Blue Lion house has some of the strongest physical units in the game, including some amazing cavalry units. Dimitri is an obvious choice to fight atop a trusty steed, as he demolishes most foes with just about any class you give him.
All of the other students do pretty well on a horse as well, with Sylvain and Ingrid being some prime examples. In Three Houses, cavalry units are extremely important for mobility and high damage output, making Blue Lions a strong contender for having the best skills in combat.
4 Golden Deer: A Chill Time

As Claude swiftly mentions to Byleth when introducing his house, the Golden Deer house is all about being yourself, taking relaxing lunch breaks, and having a good time. This house is definitely the most light-hearted out of the three, setting itself apart from how much of a bummer the other two can be at times.
Within the Golden Deer house, you'll get to know these lovable students extremely well, and the support conversations with them often have the same feel as Social Links and Confidants from Persona.
3 Blue Lions: Relics Aplenty

There are some pretty sick-looking weapons to obtain in Three Houses called "hero-relics", and the Blue Lion house is the only one where all twelve of them are obtainable. If the students weren't powerful enough on their own, having access to all of these legendary weapons makes them unstoppable.
Areadbhar and Crusher are weapons exclusive to the Blue Lion route, and they'll be used quite frequently. Areadbhar, Dimitri's signature weapon, arguably makes him into the single best unit in the game, as if he wasn't already good enough without it.
2 Golden Deer: Beginner-Friendly

Golden Deer for sure has the best selection of ranged units in the game, with a heavy focus on archers and mages. All of these units are pretty damn powerful, but ranged units are certainly one of the safer and more beginner-friendly classes to assist newer players in getting into the groove of battle.
Once newer players get the hand of taking out enemies from afar with Claude, Lysithea, and Lorenz, units like Hilda and Leonie are great close-ranged units to compliment them. If you're just starting out with Fire Emblem, Golden Deer might be your best option.
1 Blue Lions: More Sexual Diversity

It seems a bit unfitting that the Golden Deer house is the only house not to feature any bisexual characters whatsoever, but that is the case. The Blue Lions may not have as many diverse dating options as the Black Eagles, but it's better than not having any at all.
The Black Eagle house has three characters with more diverse preferences, but having Mercedes be the only one in Blue Lions isn't really a downside, as she's extremely delightful all on her own. Even in the Ashen Wolves DLC, Balthus, who is affiliated with the Golden Deer, is only romanceable by female Byleth.
