Pia Mia Perez [1] (born September 19, 1996) is an American singer, dancer and extra. She began her career by posting videos of herself singing on the video sharing site YouTube, and went on to star in commercials and music videos. Pia Mia signed a recording contract with Interscope Records in 2013, subsequently releasing her debut extended play, The Souvenir, and a series of singles, including "Practice Information technology Again" and "Touch on". In 2016, she was featured on will.i.am'due south single "Boys & Girls" which reached the top 40 in the UK Singles Chart. In 2017, Pia Mia independently released an EP entitled The Gift two. Pia would later leave Interscope Records and become an independent artist in belatedly 2017, creating her own label Cherry Pie Records.[2] Pia briefly signed a record deal with Commonwealth Records and Electric Experience Amusement in 2020, before separating the post-obit year.[iii]

Early life [edit]

Pia Mia Perez was born September nineteen, 1996,[four] on Guam, an unincorporated territory of the United States. She is of Chamorro descent. She is the daughter of Angela Terlaje Perez and Peter Perez Jr. In Guam, Perez performed at weddings and other community events, before moving to Los Angeles in 2010 with her female parent to pursue her music career professionally.[5] [six]

Career [edit]

2013–2017: The Souvenir, The Gift two and breakthrough [edit]

Perez was discovered past and worked with producer Babyface during her get-go year in Los Angeles.[6] Eventually she was introduced to Chris Brown'south director and record executive Abou "Bu" Thiam in 2013. In early 2015, she released the promotional single "Fuck With U" featuring American hip hop recording artist and producer G-Eazy. It was initially intended to be the kickoff single from Mia'south debut studio anthology under Interscope, merely was later on scrapped. On May iv, 2015, Mia released "Do It Again", which featured vocals from Chris Brown and Tyga, and became Mia'south first charting vocal. It has reached No. 8 on the UK Top 40, No. 71 on the Usa Billboard Hot 100 chart, No. 19 on the Rhythmic Songs nautical chart and No. lxx on the Canadian Hot 100.[12] On October 30, 2015, Mia released follow-upwardly single called "Impact", produced by StarGate and BloodPop. In 2016, Perez was featured on will.i.am's single "Boys & Girls" which peaked in the peak 40 on the Britain Singles Chart. Perez released the promotional single "Nosotros Should Exist Together" on Dec 15, 2016.[thirteen]

On May 25, 2017, Pia released the single "I'm a Fan" featuring Jeremih.[xiv] Pia Mia parted ways with Interscope Records and Wolfpack Entertainment, both divisions of Universal Music Group in late 2017. She stated that she didn't have plenty artistic freedom nether the label and that there were excessive delays with her music.[fifteen] [16] On Dec 15, she self-released her 2d EP The Gift 2, which was preceded by the promotional unmarried, "Off My Anxiety", released on Dec 1, 2017.[17] [18]

2019–nowadays: Interim and label changes [edit]

On May xiv, 2020, information technology was announced that Perez had signed to Electric Feel Entertainment and Republic Records.[3] Perez released the single "Princess", her get-go single released under her new characterization, on May 15, 2020.[23] [24] In an interview with Idolator, Perez confirmed the release of the single "Hot", which volition feature on her upcoming debut studio album.[16] "Hot" was released on July 24, 2020, subsequently accompanied by a visualiser for the song, released on September 14.[25] A remix of the vocal featuring Sean Paul and Flo Milli was released on Oct 27, 2020. In 2020, Perez announced that she had written a book titled The Princess Diaries: Sand, Glitter and Silicone which will be released chapter by chapter via Wattpad.[27] In September 2020, it was officially announced that Pia Mia had joined the content subscription service OnlyFans.[28]

On February 14, 2021, Perez released the song "Miss Me" on SoundCloud. Perez announced that the song's release was independent subsequently parting means with Democracy Records and Electrical Experience Entertainment.[29] [30] On October one, 2021, Perez released the My Side EP, which was preceded past the singles "730" and "Only Ane".[31] The EP is her outset since 2017'south The Gift ii.
